Gross Motor Skills

When we use our gross motor skills it means we are using all our big muscles in our body.  These big muscles can be in our arms, our legs and our stomach. We use these big muscles not only to play our favourite sports or play on the playground but also to do our school work.

Did you know that when you sit at your desk to do writing, cutting or reading that you use all your big muscles?! You use big muscles in your stomach to sit up straight, the muscles in your shoulders and arms to hold your book, hold your pencil or type in your Chromebook. It is really important that we keep building and strengthening our gross motor skills so that we can keep doing these activities.

Here are some fun gross motor activities for you to try at home. You can do them by yourselves or with other people in your family. Maybe you can try doing one or two of these activities before you start your school work for the day or during a brain break!
