Basic Key Word Sign: This document outlines basic signs (e.g. toilet, more, please) to support with communication. It provides a visual example of what the sign looks like, as well as a brief outline on how to make the sign: common KWS

First-then schedule: This is a schedule you can use with your child if they have difficulties in completing a set task and need motivation/reinforcement to do so. You put the visual of the task you want them to complete in the ‘first section’ (usually their non-preferred task), and a visual of a preferred task (motivator – e.g. ipad/fun activity) in the “next” section. You may like to use this with a timer so they have a clear idea on the amount of time they need to complete either their non-preferred activity (school work) or the amount of time they have with their preferred activity (the motivator – e.g. ipad, art etc.) to support with transition to the next “non preferred” task. first/then schedule
