WE WILL REMEMBER THEM (My Grandfather’s Hat )  –   Andrew Chinn

My Grandfathers hat it stands on the wall

Is a sign of a man who answered the call

Greater love hath no man

than  to lay down his life

to lay down his life for the sake of us all

Now every year, I take the hat down

to honour that man and give thanks for our land

A land of great beauty, a land safe and free

I pray and give thanks I sing proudly and stand

(CHORUS)

For  a land that they loved,  For a land they called their home

For a land of their hearts,  a land that was their own

For a land of peace and a land of hope

We Will Remember Them ( We Will Remember Them)

Lest We Forget (Lest We Forget)

And now every year as the leaves start to fall

We gather together march one and all

We march to remember those who gave their life

life that we may live, live life to the full

(Chorus)

For  a land that they loved,  For a land they called their home

For a land of their hearts,  a land that was their own

For a land of peace and a land of hope

We Will Remember Them ( We Will Remember Them)

Lest We Forget (Lest We Forget)

Till we gather around this cross and fallen leaves

and I hold that hat close to my heart

‘and give thanks for  those who gave their lives for peace

a gift for our land a gift to live free

(Chorus )

For  a land that they loved,  For a land they called their home

For a land of their hearts,  a land that was their own

For a land of peace and a land of hope

We Will Remember Them ( We Will Remember Them)

Lest We Forget (Lest We Forget)

Spoken Part

“They shall grow not  old as we who are left to grow old

age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn

at the going down of the sun and in the morning “

We will remember them ( we will remember them)

Lest We Forget (Lest We Forget)
