‘While we can’t hug’ Drawing

Hello there Prep T Parents and Families,

I hope you’re all doing well this week. This Tuesday I asked the children to draw a picture in our Morning Meet of ‘how I can show love.’ If you could please post their drawings on Seesaw that would be wonderful. I am creating something special for the children to see.

Also, a reminder that this Friday the 11th of September, children are invited to dress up as their favourite animal. They could also bring a toy animal if they do not wish to get dressed up (optional).

Thank you for your support,

Ms Nathalie Torres

Week 9 Prep Check-ins

Hello lovely Prep T Parents and Families,

What an amazing week we’ve had travelling around Australia in our Magic School Bus. We hope the children were able to have some fun and giggles watching our videos. If you have taken pictures of your child completing the virtual excursion this week, please post them on Seesaw.

Things to note:

  • During Week 9 (Monday 7th Sept- Friday 11th Sept), Prep teachers will be timetabling half-hour “check-ins” with each child in lieu of our Reading and Maths focus groups. We have tried where possible to timetable these check-ins on the same day as your child’s regular reading group. It would be helpful if children could please wear headphones and have their Remote Learning Pack on hand.                            Please refer to the timetable below to see your child’s scheduled time slot.  Check-in code is: prept
  • Friday the 11th of September children are invited to dress up as their favourite animal. They could also bring a toy animal if they do not want to get dressed up (optional).

I kindly ask that children do not log into their meet before scheduled their time, so as not to interrupt the check-in of the child prior.

Thank you again for another week. Term 3 is always a time of big developments in the learning of Prep children and it is fantastic to see that this year is no different!

I hope all our wonderful Prep T dads and special males in our lives have a lovely weekend celebrating Father’s Day!

Warm regards,

Nathalie

Exploring outfits!

Hello Prep T Families and Parents,

I hope you have all had a lovely start to your week.

In the spirit of Magic School Bus week, tomorrow I am inviting all children to bring an exploring outfit or object (optional). Children may like to wear an exploring hat, binoculars, glasses, bring a special map, etc. I can’t wait to see our Prep T explorers!

Week 8 Timetable & Notices

Hello Prep T Parents and Families,

It is crazy to think next week is already week 8! This week I have enjoyed seeing all their wacky monsters/animals, but also reading the wonderful facts they have learnt about Flamingos.

Next week, I am inviting each child after their allocated Maths group to stay on and participate in a social game with our year five friends from 5S! The meet will allow students to interact and participate in some special challenges and fun games. The new timetable for Week 8 has been updated for your convenience under the tab ‘Timetable’. Please take the time to scroll through and note when your child’s Literacy, Maths and Social Meet groups are.

Also, next week the Prep team have organised some very exciting activities for our prep friends. Each day next week we will all be getting on the Magic School Bus for an unforgettable adventure!

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Nathalie 🙂

Week 7 Important Notices

Good evening Prep T Families,

I wanted to take the time to applaud our little learners who have all shown great resilience during Remote Learning. These little heroes have stayed indoors more than they’ve ever known. Thank you parents and families for the ongoing support and enduring through these difficult times.

Next week your child is invited to show an item for ‘Show and Tell’ in our morning Google Meets (a toy, pet, photo, drawing, Animal book or Time book, etc.). This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to share with their class family something of their choice. Please check the timetable below to see what day your child is scheduled to share.

The Prep teachers have included some afternoon activity ideas for next week. Your child can choose one or more boxes from the grid of play ideas and have a wonderful afternoon lost in the magic of play!

A reminder to please take the time to check our new Week 7 timetable under the ‘Timetables’ tab. Please take note of your child’s Literacy and Maths group day/time.

Thank you,

Have a beautiful weekend!

Nathalie 🙂

Week 6 Timetable and updates

Hello Prep T Parents and Families,

All the preps looked terrific today in their 100-days crowns and outfits! What a fun 100 Days of School celebration. We hope all the children had fun completing the activities and dressing up.

In the ‘timetables’ tab, I have added the new timetable for next week (week 6). Next week there are significant changes to the timetable as we are introducing small fifteen-minute Maths focus groups. Please check to see the day and time your child is scheduled to be on our Google Meet.

A reminder that Wushka readers are assigned weekly for the children to read at home. These are changed weekly and I encourage Prep children to reread a book many times. Wushka passwords can be found using the following link: https://stgpparent.global2.vic.edu.au/learning-at-home/passwords/wushka-leveled-reading-program-for-years-p-3/

We are now over the halfway mark for the term! I wanted to say a big thank you for all your hard work and efforts to assist with your child’s remote learning.

I hope you all enjoy the weekend.

Happy 100 days!

Nathalie

100 Days of Prep!

Good morning Prep T Families,

We are all very excited to be celebrating 100 days of Prep today!

Here are a few reminders:

  • Children can wear a 100 days themed costume or their best party clothes
  • Children will have two google meets today one at 9 am and one at 12pm- use normal class code (prept)
  • Please bring your child’s 100 day pack to the 9 am meet
  • If your child attends school please send them with their 100 day pack
  • At the 12pm meet your child will receive their certificate (these are in their 100 day pack so please bring this certificate to the 12pm meet)

We understand that some families are still awaiting the arrival of their 100-day pack. If you have not received the pack, all of the activities are on the blog, under a tab titled ‘100 Days’. Parents may print from these or children may copy the general activity idea into their Remote Learning book or on some blank paper.

Thank you for your support,

Ms Torres

Week 5 Updates

Hello Prep T Families,

It was terrific to see the children’s excitement over our CRAZY hair this morning. Thank you all for the effort you put into their amazing hair today. They looked spectacular! It has been wonderful to see the children starting to show more independence in their learning and morning google meets.

This afternoon I have updated next week’s timetables (Week 5), under the ‘Timetables’ tab at the top of this page. To accommodate our 100 days of Prep next week, some small group meet times have changed.

Please also note some of the fun we will be having in our morning check-ins in Week 5:

  • Magical Monday- Bring your favourite book (optional). Mr Sheedy will be joining us!
  • Terrific Tuesday- Social Justice leaders will be leading us in prayer.
  • WOW Wednesday- We have a special guest joining us!
  • Fun Friday- 100 days of Prep! Children are asked to bring their unopened envelopes and to wear a party prop (hat, wig, glasses, etc.) or a costume with a ‘100’ theme if you have something at home (optional).

I hope you all have a safe weekend.

With gratitude,

Nathalie 🙂

Week 4 Timetable & Update

Hello Prep T Families,

It was wonderful to speak to you all this week about your child’s learning and growth over this year.

This afternoon I have updated next week’s timetables, under the ‘Timetables’ tab at the top of this page. I have added what the children should bring to their groups under ‘materials needed’. While these small groups do run differently to our focus teaching groups at school, they are off to an incredible start and will continue to have an impact on our learning.  I do remind families not to prompt your Prep child with answers. We use those moments of silence and pause as thinking time, and I use those moments to gauge what a child may need further support with. While some lessons in isolation may appear ‘easy’ to an adult, they contribute to larger understandings that develop over time for young children. I thank each family for their support.

Please also note some of the fun we will be having in our morning check-ins in Week 4:

  • Wacky Wednesday- Children are asked to bring an item special to them (a photo, spiritual item or a book). We also have a special guest joining us!

  • Fun Friday- Children are asked to wear their ‘craziest’ hair!

I wish you all a blessed weekend!

Nathalie.
