School Helpers

Hi all,
On Thursday the 22nd and Friday the 23rd, the LaTT held our first School Helper Induction meeting for the year. We will conduct one each term to strengthen our partnership with parents, which is invaluable in shaping our children’s education.
We are pleased to announce that 46 parents have signed up to help with the following tasks at SGP.
  • Classroom assistance
  • Senior Reading
  • Library- Shelving Books
  • Contacting books- from home
  • Making or cutting resources- from home
  • R.E.- sewing- from home
  • Scholastic Books
  • Take Home Reader organisation
  • Canteen
  • ICT
**This year parents have been asked to help throughout the day in Prep-6 and the enthusiasm from parents to contribute is truly heartening!
Next week we will send out the names of parent volunteers in your class and we ask that you contact them and arrange a day and time for them to come into your classroom for support.
We thank you for your support in strengthening parent partnerships.
It is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
LaT Team

Roll marking

Good afternoon teaching staff,

We’re getting an increasing number of calls each day from worried parents after the absent messages are sent out to families.

There are many students who are arriving late to class but are not coming through the office. They’re being marked absent without explanation and therefore parents are receiving the text message saying their child is not here.

Please do not mark the roll prior to 9am. If a student walks into class after the roll has been marked you MUST make sure the roll is updated. You can either make the amendment in nForma or send the student to the office and Steph will update the roll on your behalf.

In nForma, all you have to do is change the absent drop down to present and change the Reason drop down to late arrival at school then click save on the bottom right.

If you are unsure what to do, please ask Steph for assistance.

Footy Tipping 2024

Good Evening Everyone,
Our Footy Tipping competition will return this year. More or less the same as last year so it should be familiar to returning players.

Cost:
Once again the cost of the tipping will be $30. Please hand this straight to the office prior to round 1.

Entering Tips:
Reminders will be sent when a round is going to commence.  You simply tip the teams that you think are going to win. You will also be required to tip a winning margin for the first game of the round. This is what determines positions on the ladder if you are the same points as others  (How close you get to the actual margin)

You get 1 point for each correct tip and the adjusted margin will accumulate each round and will show in brackets next to your points. (Obviously, the lower the number in the brackets the better)

Submit:
Once you have selected your teams, please remember to press submit!

Changing Tips:
You are able to change your tips right up until each game begins.

Forgetting to Tip:
However, If you forget to enter the entire round, you get the same score as the person who scored the lowest for that round (I think with a max of 5)  You do not get the away teams.

A Draw:
You can not tip a draw. When teams draw, everyone gets a point

Winnings:

  • 1st Prize  60%
  • 2nd Prize 30%
  • 3rd Prize 10%

Actual amounts will be determined once all members are signed up.

Weekly Winners:
The person who gets the highest tipping score of the round is the weekly winner. This person’s name will be incorporated into the weekly poem.

Weekly Poem:
Each week I will attempt to recap the weekend’s events, and how the SGP ladder is shaping up in the form of a poem. Last season I wrote acrostic and haiku poems. I am still far from a genius but will strive to send something out each week.

Download the App ESPN FootyTips:
It’s just easier to enter the tips and do everything from your phone.
Returning players should still be able to see the competition when they log back in.
New players can join the competition using the link below.
The Password is SGP

Banter:
Don’t hold back 😎… Footy creates a lot of fun banter and conversation!!
I will be following my Bombers every week, hoping for the best and expecting the worst

Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to know or if you still need help signing up.

May the countdown continue!
In friendly competitiveness

Accessing your online booking links for tonight’s GTKY Interviews

Please click on the video to find out how to access your booking links for online interviews tonight. At the end of the video, I do show you how you can access them through the School Interviews Teacher Bookings page, however, if you access like this, you won’t have the full meeting controls, so I strongly suggest you use the access through your calendar.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Whole School Prayer Services

Good afternoon!

I have randomly allocated classes to a Prayer Service over the course of the year.  They are on our Staff Calendar and will be copied later onto our Parent Calendar too. Please have a look at when your class will be hosting prayer for the school.  Where Fridays looked busy,  we have put them on Mondays, and some weeks with public holidays,  there might not be one.

Some resources and ideas to help plan your prayer service:

MACS liturgical Calendar,

Prayer Service Template

Liturgy Ritual Prayer Website  (details and log in on the Template above)

Also consider what special days are occurring in your week.

Families will be welcome to attend, it will be on the parent calendar too but please also send them a message on your ClassDojo Class Story prior to give them enough notice to be there for their child if they want to.

We are here to help, so should there be any questions or parts you are uncertain about, please reach out and ask!

Thank you,

Alessia and Reggie
