Professional Learning

Professional Learning

All Professional Learning (PL) attended during School Hours requires the permission of the Principal

When staff attend professional learning (PL) the Deputy Principal will make the necessary arrangements for the grade to be covered. This may be in the form of a timetable change or a replacement teacher etc..

Staff who book their own Professional Learning must immediately inform the Deputy Principal of the absence dates and times. These dates and times must also be written into the school diary. Leadership Team members who book PL on behalf of a staff member will always  inform Deputy Principal and the teacher of the absence dates and times as well as recording the information in the school diary. The ultimate responsibility of checking in with the Deputy Principal as to how the grade will be covered lies with the teacher.

Professional Learning Record

For VIT Registration each Staff member is personally responsible for keeping their own Professional Learning Records

Currently St Mary’s has a procedure in place where internal and external –non Catholic Education Melbourne – is logged for staff members.

Professional Learning is applied for in two places. Either on CEVN  or Not

CEVN

If the Professional Learning you attend is applied for on the CEVN website then the hours are automatically recorded on My IPLS on CEVN.

The only action required by you is to check MY IPLS on CEVN from time to time using your C number

Non CEVN

If the Professional Learning you attend is from an outside provider then the hours are not automatically recorded on CEVN.

To have those hours recorded a form needs to be completed.

The Professional Learning form My PL – integrated Professional Learning System (IPLS) is available in the staff room.

Once the form is completed it should be handed to the Deputy Principal.

The Professional Learning hours are then recorded for you.

Each teacher has a personal  responsibility to check CEVN using their C number
