Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

Our thoughts have been with you all as we enter our second lockdown period. This is hard, and we understand the pressure that you are all under, but we have done this before and you did an amazing job!

As a team we have been evaluating what worked well last time and also the things we need to change for round two. It is going to look a little different in a few ways but most importantly, we are going to utilise Google Meets a lot more for dedicated small group teaching time. All Google Meets will be accessed via a code (specific for each class) which will be placed on the Year 2 Learning Space.

Please take your time to read through the information so you are familiar with the Remote Learning Expectations for Year 2.

  • Students are asked to wear their school uniform and be ready for a 9am start. They must be in the Google Meet at 9am so the roll can be marked. Students not present will be marked as absent for the day. Students who join the meet after 9:15am will be marked as late.
  • We ask for you to treat the school day as if your child is at school. Please help set them up, give them a kiss goodbye and let them participate in Google Meets on their own. If your child is having difficulty with a task you can assist them but please let your child do the work! This will help develop your child’s independence and it will allow them to feel as though they are at school.
  • We always encourage students to learn from their mistakes. Please do not allow your child to use an eraser as they know how to edit their work (cross it out, use a coloured pencil to have another go). It is much easier for us to assist your child when we can see the challenges they have had.
  • We have placed a timetable up under each teacher’s blog page. Please read through this with your child so you can keep track of the small group sessions they will need to attend. We endeavour to keep these sessions the same day and time each week.
  • The timetable will show the times we are available if you need us. Please email your class teacher if you require any assistance. As we are often very busy during our day, we may not be able to reply to your email until the following day. Please be patient as we work through this together. Our availabilities are outlined on our timetable.
  • If you are having difficulties with any technology, please complete the I.T Request Form (located on the Parent Community page) and someone will assist you.
  • The learning packs that were sent home were provided specifically for Year 2. We would like to remind you that the Handwriting Book is to be used for the sessions specified. Please do not allow your child to use it unless it has been instructed by the teacher.
  • We found See-Saw worked exceptionally well last time. Just a friendly reminder to please only put up work that has been requested by the teacher.
  • Breaks, especially away from technology, are important to eat, rest the brain, get active and refresh. Please factor these into your day.

Thank you kindly for your support.

We are looking forward to seeing the children on Monday morning.
