Year 1 and 2 Challenge

Task 1: Model Tree House

Design and create a model treehouse for 5 figurines, sitting in a tree.

Must haves:

• The tree must be made of materials you have at home such as sticks, cardboard, wood, plastic etc.., It must look like a tree and be able to hold your tree house.
• The tree house must be attached to the tree.
• The tree house must be able to hold 5 people.

 

Task 2: Parachute Drop

Design and create a parachute that when dropped from a height will land safely to the ground.

Must haves:

• It must carry an egg/ figurine safely to the ground.
• The parachute must begin as a square with sides at least 20 cm in length.
• It must be made of at least three recycled materials.

What now?

1. You need to brainstorm some ideas and draw them on some paper. (take photos so you can share them once you have completed the challenge).
2. Build your slide from the plans you created. Test your design and make changes where you need to. Remember to redraw your new designs. (Have an adult take photos as use do this- to share once the challenge is complete)

•  Put all of your photos together in a photo story using video, slideshow or a poster. Bring your model in when we return to onsite learning.
