Occupational Therapy

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the Occupational Therapy page of the Learning Diversity Blog!

One of the goals of Occupational Therapy (OT) is to help support students to develop skills that assist them to access and participate in their learning tasks. OT also aims to help develop skills that can be used across the domains of both school and home. This might be fine motor skills that help to enable better handwriting but also may assist in an activity of self care such as doing up shoe laces.

On this page you will find links to:

  • Gross Motor activities
  • Fine Motor activities
  • Regulation activities
  • Handwriting
    – Tips and Tricks for handwriting
    – Handwriting for early years
  • Visual Motor activities

There are a few activities to choose from and you may choose to do the same activity multiple times with your child. Please remember motor based activities are often activities that do need to be completed multiple times in order to help the brain form new motor pathways and habits. Forming these habits and storing them in long term memory can take time and that is perfectly okay!

Over the course of online learning, these pages will be updated frequently with new information/activities that can be accessed to support your child’s learning.
