Year 6 Week 6

Duv’e`? -Where is it?

Dov’e` is a combination of two words, Dove-where, and e`-is/it is.

In Italian we say this phrase if we want to know where something is, for example,

If I want to know where the dog is, I say, “Dov’e` il  cane?”

Where is the car, is, “Dov’e` la  macchina?”

Where is my book, is, “Dov’e` il mio libro?”

To answer this question we use phrases like, “E` qua” -It’s here.

“E` la”-It’s there.  “E` la su”-It’s up there. “E` la giu”,-I’ts down there. “E sotto il tavolo”- it’s under the table.

“Non lo so!”- means, I don’t know.
