Another Staffing Update

Many of you would be aware by now that Teresa Velardi will be leaving us at the end of term to pursue other opportunities. I want to thank Teresa for her contributions to the SGP community over the years and for bringing the Italian language and culture to life for all of the students here.

Today, the following message will go out to our families:

Our Italian teacher, Teresa Velardi, will be leaving us at the end of term to pursue other opportunities. Those of you who know her will know the contributions she has made to the SGP community over the years in bringing the Italian language and culture to life for all of your children. Teresa will be missed and I know that wherever life takes her, she will bring enthusiasm and passion to whatever she does.
As Teresa will be leaving us at the end of the term, we are currently searching for a LOTE teacher to join our team.
We wish Teresa all the best in her future endeavours.

Dress Code for sports days, etc

Good afternoon

The dress code for tomorrow’s sports carnival has been brought up again, so I want to make sure everyone is clear on the expectations. Please refer to page 23 of the staff guidlines(click) and also my previous messages regarding appropriate attire, in particular active wear. Active wear is not professional, nor is it appropriate to be worn at school or to any school incursions, excursions, camps, sports days, etc. Any clothing that is worn should be free from rips, tears, freys and should be modest and professional. Thank you for your support with this. If you have any questions or concerns, please come see me.

It is going to be a warm day tomorrow. As Dom’s message says, plan ahead.  I have purchased some water and Gatorade, which will be available for staff and volunteers.

Kind regards

Michael

Staffing announcement

Good morning everyone

As many of you are aware, Nathan Bonnici will be leaving us at the end of the term. Today, the following announcement will go out to the wider SGP community:

Dear SGP community

Our Occupational Therapist, Nathan Bonnici, has been sought out by another school to head the building of their OT department. Those of you who know him will know what a perfect role this is for him. We are very excited for Nathan and his family as not only is this position closer to home, it is also a step up in the career he loves. It is a bittersweet moment as Nathan has supported so many in our community and built a wonderful approach to OT at SGP. He will be missed and we know everything he has set up at SGP will continue through the learning spaces.
Nathan will be leaving us at the end of the term. We are currently searching for an Occupational Therapist to join our team.
We wish Nathan all the best in his future endeavours. Strathtulloh Primary School is very lucky to have him.
Warm regards
Michael

Thank you & classroom locations

Thank you everyone for your generosity with learning spaces. We had more staff offer up spaces than was necessary. I appreciate how supportive you all are! Everyone now has somewhere with aircon. Hopefully we can get them all sorted before the next heat wave!

Below is where you can find staff and teachers who have moved.

Jacky (yr3) – in Marian’s room (yr1)
Matthew (yr4) – in Michael’s room (yr1)
Annette (yr3) – in Yr 5 back room
Simone (yr3) – in Sabrina’s room (yr3)
Marian (yr1) – testing in my office
Michael (yr1) – testing in Darren’s room (yr1)
Michael (me 😁) – in meeting room
We will make a decision about play time closer to each of them.
Have a great day and stay cool!
Michael

High Temperature Tomorrow

Good evening everyone

A reminder that we have very high temperatures expected again tomorrow. There are some learning spaces without aircon, so there may be movement around the school into spaces where the aircon is working. This includes the additional rooms in year 5&6. Please be flexible and generous with spaces to support your colleagues. If you have a space that won’t be used tomorrow or your airconditioning isn’t working, please let us know so that we can find alternate arrangements.

We have been working with the suppliers to resolve the issues, however, it is taking longer than we had hoped.

Thank you for your support and please let me know if there is anything else you require.

Kind regards

Michael

Prep Family Picnic Postponed

Good afternoon everyone

Thank you to those who said they would stay for the Prep Family Picnic tonight. Unfortunately we have to postpone. The following message was recently sent to families.

—–

Dear Prep Families

We are very disappointed to announce that we will have to postpone the Prep Family Picnic tonight. The weather is very uncertain, however, with the current heat, thunderstorms on the way and winds of 40-60kph are projected. In the interest of safety and an enjoyable evening for all, we will postpone tonight and reschedule for Thursday February 29 at 4.30pm.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support of this decision.
Have a safe evening.
Kind regards
Michael

Additions to ‘Staff Memo’

PLW change this week – Due to Charlotte’s attendance at camp this week, the previously scheduled PLW has swapped with week 7. Maria Long will work with staff around EAL goal setting and Davis will work with specialist staff on individual student profiles and adjustments.

Friday Rocketry – A group of 60 teachers from other schools will be on site Friday. They will use the MACPAC and some of the yard spaces (outside of recess and lunch times). The professional learning is about teaching rocketry in schools.

Ash Wednesday ashes service – Reggie and Alessia sent around the prayer service for Wednesday afternoon. The year 4 & 6 students will attend an ashes service at the church, which all specialist staff will attend as well. Staff will bring ashes back from this church service to distribute at school.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
Kind regards

Michael
