Student Technology@SGP

eSmart

St George Preca is an eSmart certified school with the Alannah and Madeline Foundation. We value the use of digital technology in the school for teaching and learning and use it in our classrooms on a day to day basis. Students have access to Chromebooks and iPads and these are used to support the learning of the programs.

Students at St George Preca use Google Apps for Education and Class Dojo as their main learning platforms. Teachers provide learning opportunities through these platforms in which the students engage and explore in a supervised environment.

Parents have access to the Class Dojo Family App. Teachers and students post work to the journals and parents can see their child’s work in real time learning. They can also comment and give feedback to their child

iSlate

iSlate is paid app that is used at school on iPad minis with Prep Students, however it’s not overly expensive and it is one of the few handwriting apps that has ‘Victorian Cursive/Print’ built into the app.

School Writing AU/NZ

School Writing is a fully-customizable and feature-packed app that provides students with plenty of practice to perfect their writing of letters, words and numbers using their correct Australian State school font (and lines) on the iPad. Students intuitively trace pre-handwriting shapes, uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, words or whiteboard images that you import with the touch of a finger. Hear and see letters, words and numbers with customised associated images and sounds. EduColouring is a plenty of fun, abc colouring activity that aids in developing hand, eye and finger coordination for very young learners.

Class Dojo

ClassDojo is the main form of communication between parents and classroom teachers. Parents will need to make a ClassDojo Parent account in readiness for enrolling in their child’s classroom which will be sent out to you in early February. Download links for both Android and iOS devices have been added below for your convenience.
